Recent Chamber Awards Finalist Renewable Hub are starting to make a name for themselves in the energy and cost savings industry. As Chamber members they are offering all members a free energy audit to assess areas to save CO2 and energy as well as other business cost reductions.
Renewable Hub have already completed over 60 LED Lighting projects, with a typical 70% saving being achieved. Solar PV and Biomass installs are also part of their portfolio. A key area is strategic energy purchasing which they do via a unique reverse tender process, which guarantees the best price for their clients.
The largest project to date was for a fellow Chamber member TSI Packing based in Telford. Nathan Badger the MD of Renewable Hub met with Victoria Watson-Smyth (Managing Director of TSI Packing) to assess their business for potential energy and cost savings. Having completed an energy audit several products were suggested and a strategic plan was implemented starting with a water, gas and electric review.
TSI Packing are specialists in providing bespoke export packing services including case making which is mostly from sustainable wood. Therefore it was identified that the large quantities of virgin wood offcuts could be turned from a cost into a cash positive by installing a wood burning biomass.
Renewable Hub guided TSI Packing through the process from start to finish, this included building a new housing for the boilers that would heat the 25,000 square foot premises. Biomass boilers attract a renewable heat incentive (RHI) which is a government backed scheme guaranteed for 20 years. With an estimated 350% return on investment (ROI) on this project now is the time to look at biomass boilers before the tariff is reduced.
Renewable Hub and their biomass experts have worked with us to bring the project to life and realise the potential CO2 savings whilst earning money through the RHI scheme. TSI Packing are keen to ensure they are environmentally friendly where possible and the figures presented plus the carbon saving was an easy business decision to make.
